Resurgo Ventures Social Impact Accelerator Launch Event

Over 60 guests came together to mark the launch of the Social Impact Accelerator in Hammersmith. The evening was attended by local business people, experts who are providing support for the programme, representatives from Hammersmith & Fulham Council and the current cohort of entrepreneurs.

Resurgo Chief Executive, Tom Jackson, shared the vision for the accelerator, which supports early-stage entrepreneurs running businesses with a social purpose, and interviewed George Metcalfe and Aaron John from Nightingale Software, and Rachael Coulson and Alice Williams from Luminary Bakery about their enterprises.

Aaron from Nightingale, a software company developing technology to track young people’s mental health, said, “Success for us will be to build a service that will help young people feel more equipped and confident about their mental health – with the aim of flagging issues early enough that proper support can be put in place. It’s something that I would have loved to have had access to when I was at school.”

Alice reflected on the vision of Luminary, explaining, “We use baking as a tool to take women on a journey to employability, investing in them through training and community to break the generational cycles of abuse, prostitution, criminal activity and poverty. It’s amazing to be in this cohort of entrepreneurs who are all centred around a social vision too – we can’t wait to get started.”

Head of Resurgo Ventures, Gordon Eichhorst, closed the evening by setting out the Resurgo vision for a new generation of businesses: ones that are both profitable and purposeful, impacting the world around them in a significant and measurable way.
