Tom Jackson

Chief Executive

Tom is a former litigation solicitor and a Director of a property business in London. He is also co-founder and founding fellow of the Centre for Social Justice think tank in Westminster. Tom holds an MBA from Henley Business School and founded Resurgo in 2003.

Jo Rice

Managing Director

Jo trained as a marketeer in the charity sector before moving into coaching in 2001. As a consultant with The Wilsher Group she advised a number of blue chip clients, for example delivering a commercial change management programme at Visa International. In 2003, Jo joined Resurgo to implement its vision for an employment training and development centre in West London and launch the Spear programme.

Alastair Bateman

Chief Operating Officer

Ali joined Resurgo in February 2016 in the new role of Chief Operating Officer. Formerly Head of Marketing Strategy at Tearfund, Ali has a wealth of experience managing fundraising, marketing, and data insight teams. Before that he worked as a Management Consultant at Bearing Point but was moved to pursue a career in the charity sector after spending time in India and seeing extreme poverty first hand.

Emily Armitstead

Head of Employer Engagement

Emily joined the team in 2010. She was previously a headhunter with the executive search firm, Forrester Partners. She has worked on senior-level searches across a range of geographies and sectors.


Iona Ledwidge

Head of Coaching

Iona oversees the training and development of the 30-strong coaching team at our eight Spear centres across London. She previously worked as a Centre Manager on Spear, and now heads up the overall running of the programme. She is also responsible for designing and delivering the coaching programmes for Resurgo’s external clients, including Burberry, Marks & Spencer and John Lewis.Iona studied English at Nottingham University and worked as an actress before moving into the charitable sector. She is also a qualified counsellor and has been running a private practice for seven years.

Julia Grant

Head of Major Gifts

Julia Grant joined the team in October 2011. Julia has over six years’ experience working in both the national and international charitable sectors as well as in the publishing industry. Prior to joining Resurgo Trust, Julia was employed as a Major Donor and Corporate Partnerships Executive at International Development Agency, Tearfund.


Luke Watson

Head of Impact

Luke joined as a Spear Centre Manager for the Hammersmith, Shepherd’s Bush and North Fulham centres in September 2010, before becoming Resurgo’s Director of Impact in 2014. He studied as a Biologist at Southampton University and Imperial College London, and used to work as a conservation Biologist in Switzerland and the Brazilian Amazon. Luke then moved to a secondary school in South West London, where he taught Biology for five years.

Will Briston

Head of Strategic Relations

Will Briston joined the team in 2014. He has extensive experience in business development, marketing and building strategic relations at a senior level. Prior to joining Resurgo, Will was co-founder of two social ventures and has also launched a number of successful FMCG brands.

Geraldine Payne

Head of Philanthropy

Geraldine Payne joined the team in May 2014. Geraldine has over eleven years experience working in fundraising within both national and international charities. Prior to joining Resurgo Trust, Geraldine headed up the Trust team at UNICEF UK.

Andrew Davies

Head of Ventures

Andrew heads up our initiative Ventures. He has substantial business, legal and investment experience and has worked as both a corporate solicitor on various commercial transactions and as an investment professional within private equity and mutual funds. Andrew is a CFA Charterholder.

Julia Evans

Media & Communications Manager

Julia has over ten years’ experience in the charity sector, having worked across communications, marketing and advocacy. Before joining the team in 2015, she was Innovation Manager at World Vision. Julia has a Master’s Degree in English Literature from the University of Leeds.

Luke Richmond

Finance Manager

Luke joined the team in 2014 having previously worked in audit at an accountancy firm specialising in the charitable, financial services, retail and fashion sectors. Luke studied Accounting & Finance at The University of Kent Business School and is ACCA qualified.
